Wellbore cement is the final result of the cementing process—the hard, durable sheath that bonds the casing to the formation. This cement sheath is a critical barrier in the well's design, preventing unwanted fluid migration. It is an integral part of well integrity and is continuously monitored throughout the life of the well to ensure its effectiveness.

The term wellbore cement can also refer to the broader family of cements used for both primary and secondary cementing operations. Secondary cementing, or remedial cementing, involves injecting cement into a wellbore to address issues that arise after the initial cement job, such as repairing a crack in the casing or sealing off a zone that is no longer productive.
